Get Ready To Party!!! There’s a new act in town and they’re coming to take you on a rollercoaster ride of great tunes and magic moments. Incorporating everything from Rock to Reggae and Country to Blues, The RoJo’s are definitely here for a great time!!

Featuring the hottest stick player in Calgary, this versatile trio also features strong vocals, keyboards, electric and acoustic guitars and powerful drum sounds. Add three strong personalities with plenty of audience interaction and the show is happening!!

THE CHAPMAN STICK

The Chapman Stick Touchboard Instrument, or “The Stick” for short was invented in Los Angeles, California by Emmett Chapman in the early 1970s. Consisting of 10 strings on a wide fret board, The Stick is played by tapping the strings against the metal frets, incorporating techniques from guitar, bass, keyboards and percussion.

Due to the difficulty involved in mastering these techniques, there are not many professional Stick players. However, the Stick has appeared on several high profile recordings throughout the years, having been used by such artists as King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, Bruce Cockburn, Big Faith, Rawlings Cross, and Aerosmith (on their “Nine Lives” CD) to name but a few.

On the local (Calgary & area) scene, Roli Mack enjoys the highest profile among professional Stick players, being only 1 of 3 in Western Canada who is playing professionally. Having played the instrument since 1985, Roli’s mastery of Stick techniques allows him to be a true “one man band”, covering guitar, bass, keyboards and even some drum parts totally “live” without the use of tapes, computers or sequencers.

The novelty of the Stick, combined with strong vocals and stage presence, makes Roli Mack a sought after entertainer. Come on down and check it out because… YOU’VE GOT TO SEE IT TO BELIEVE IT!!!!
